SYMPTOM:
You have a few newly
joined employees. They will be under Probation for (say) three months. During probation,
they cannot avail of any Leave. In other words, only 'Unpaid' Leaves can be issued to
them. However, they can take Leaves once they are 'confirmed' in the services of your
Company.
The requirement is that over
a year, a total of fourteen (14) Leaves will be issued, but only one at a time will accrue
as on the 28th day of every month.
Thus, the employee can take
all of the Leaves only on 28.12.2000, given that the Leave Calendar of the Company spans
from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2000.
Attaching the Leave Structure
for 9 months will not serve your purpose, since it will diminish the total number of
Issuable Leaves from '14' to '(14 * 9/12)' = 10.50.
RESOLUTION:
Let us assume that, you
have a Head of Leave as 'Annual Leave'. Mark the Leave Rule as 'Pro-rated distribution'
over the whole Period, Number of days as 'Fixed: 14 days', and enter '28'
against the Credited on specific date of a month option.
Further, mark Applicable
After as '3 Months'. Finally, you may opt to 'Round off' the accrued
balance to a desired value, say, to the closest whole number (i.e., opt for '1.00' against
Closest).
The above measures will
enable Leaves to be issued, proportionately, coupled with a validation that they can be
issued only after 3 months' time after the joining of an employee. Leave however, will
continue to accrue all through, even over the Period of Probation, as described in the
'Symptoms' section above.
