SYMPTOM:

Employees in your organisation receive salary in the middle of the month. Payroll is generated once at end of the mid period and finally at end of the month. PERKS automatically does the calculations to find the payable amount against each head of pay (HOP). However, you feel the need to mention the amount you paid in the payslip delivered at end of the month. Thus you need a function that could return the amount being paid at end of the mid period while you generate your payroll, finally at end of the month.

RESOLUTION:

Let us consider that you have instructed PERKS to generate Mid Period Payroll on the basis of days, i.e., in proportion of the number of days for each of the mid periods. Let us assume that we have each pay period (month) broken into two periods, viz., the first mid period consisting of 10 days and the rest goes into the Final Period. Let us further assume that the length of the (entire) period is thirty days. Thus, generated value of each HOP is divided into 10:(30-10) i.e., 1:2 ratio. Let 'Basic Salary' for an employee be 3000. Hence, the employee will receive 3000 x (1/3) = 1000.0 against the mid period and 3000 x (2/3) = 2000.0 in the Final Period.

To get the value of 'Basic Salary' being paid at end of the mid period, do the following:

Create an 'Other' Type HOP. Set its formula as: MIDMONVAL(BASIC) (where BASIC is the short name of the HOP to consider. Set the attributes for Pro-rata / Unpaid leaves etc., following the definition 'Basic Salary'.

It is possible not to consider all HOP for generation in the mid period. In this case generated value of those HOP becomes zero and the entire amount is paid in the Final Period. As expected, using MIDMONVAL() on such an HOP returns zero.
